The Saxons from New Orleans were a band formed in the summer of 1957 and stayed together until 1965. The members of the band were Marty Roberts (tenor sax), Ralph Paillot (tenor sax), Arthur 'Skip' Godwin (baritone sax), Tommy "Chopsley" George (guitar), John "Beanzo' Weinmunson (singer and bass), Robert Jenson (piano) and Owen Mohr (drums).

They recorded nice vocal sides as_Don't Say Goodbye.

THE ZIRCONS (Mellomood Records).

Interracial group(three italians,one black and a polish) from the East Harlem streets formed in the fall of 1963 by  Jimmy Gerenetski (Lead),Neil Collelo,John Loiacano,Kenneth Pulicino and Donald Lewis.

Record collector Sal Donnarumma discovered the group singing on the street and send this to Billy Shibilski of  the label Mellomood Records (label name by Billy’s favourite group,the Mello-Moods).

Billy hear the Gerenetski’s Lead voice similar to Jimmy Baumont lead voice of The Skyliners and the group recorded acappella the Skyliner’s side_Lonely Way. with a version of The Hertbeats tune_Your Way. on the B Side, this with music.

The single was released in November,1963 and their A Side(one of the first new acappella tunes ) played so good in the tri-state radio area until early 1964 but unafortunely the group never reorded again.

This Zircons group not have any relation with the group that recorded for Old Timer Records(see in this blog).

In 1960 the canadian vocal group Les Avark's backed to Paula Gay on their Event's sides_Hi Mr. Moon(Cha Cha)/Where Is That Rainbow?. released in the US by Epic Records and unlisted in the doo wop guides. A Side is a nice popish white doo wop side.

Interracial group/band ( 3 black and 2 white members) from Fort Wayne, Indiana formed  in 1957 as The Continentals by Sonny Charles, Robert Stevens,Marwin"Sweet Louie"Smiht,Harvey Trees and Bill Van Buskir with ocassional members Calvin Thomas and Jimmy Milton.


In 1959 backed to Cliff Ayers on his Emerald's  sides_I Wonder Why/Dance With The Dolly. (see in this blog).


The groups members joined the army together and got assigned to the entertainment division in 1960.When they got out of the service in 1962 they signed with Regency Records where recorded one single as the CHECK-MATES with the sides_What Do You Do/Shoo-Bee Shoo-Bee Do.

The Coronados were two brothers and one sister american indians from New Mexico; Rubin,Steven and Anita Ortiz .

In 1954 recorded for Decca Records as The Ortiz Trio the sides_Blue Moon/In Lovely Old New Mexico. (A Side is a latin pop ballad version of Rogers & Hart's with spanish & english mixed lyrics).


 They were present in the doo wop guides as The Coronados with...

-My Beautiful Dream/No, No Blues. Vik Records-1957.
-Goodnight Kiss/World Of Confusion. U. A. Records-1958.

Additional Note.

After this group recorded for RCA , Four Corners...and others Coronado's on Peerless and Ric Records also were listed in the doo wop guides but I can't find if they have any relation with the above mentioned group, anyone know?.

In 1960 Sharilyn Martin, her sister Radean Martin and Susan Meriwhether were know as The Charmettes and rcorded for Mona Records the sides_The Deeds To My Heart/I Love You To The Nith Degree.

White trio from Westchester, New York formed by Ray "Allen" Albanese(Vocal/Guitar),Frank Rey(Vocal/Bass) and Harold "Feirstein" Stone (Vocal/Piano).

In 1954-55 recorded for King Records pop songs as the Ray Allen Trio (not present in the doo wop guides).
