Supposedly Brumley Prunk was Buddy Mize, a Bakersfield peer of Dallas Frazier who wrote "Alley Oop"!  Mize, the first president of the Nashville Songwriters Association, was the Hong Kong White Sox.

THE DUPRIES (Test & Thunderbird Records).


The Dupries were formed by sisters Annie,Joanie and Carol Duprey with their own band: Dick Schulz(Bass Guitar and Lead Vocal),Dave Pilz(Drums) and Dave Parpovich(Lead Guitar).

Their name were taken from an altered spelling of three sisters surname. in 1965 singing in many shows in the Wisconsin area and local Dj and producer Dick Hoff aka Dick Hiliday co-wrote the song_Baby Doll. for the group.

They recorded this in May, 1965 in the St. Paul, Minesota label Test Records and were re-released the next month in the Buffalo,NY label, Thunderbird Records with the B Side_Kissy Face.

The next year the girls recorded on the Test label as CANDY & THE CORALS the sides_I Should Have Loved You More/I Know.

In the picture at top left, Angelo Martino - background vocals and rhythm guitar. Top center is Joe LaRocca, drums - and top right; Walter Lee, lead singer and guitar. Walter Lee was the originator of the band. The name "Leeds" is an extension of his name; Walter Lee and the Leeds. In front row on the left is, Joe Zellers and on the right, his brother, Doug Zellers.

"Wand" records was a part of "Scepter" Records owned and managed by a woman named Florence Greenberg.

The Scholars band (white sweaters) with vocal trio the Perennials, plus manager Nat Segal,Cameo Parkway Studio, Philadelphia, January 28, 1967.

From the Port Richmond section of Philly, The Scholars were actually scholars, attending Drexel and Temple Universities who recorded in 1967 with the vocal trio know as The Perennials; Jack Donadio,Gene (last name unknow) and Jim Tucker one single for Ruby Ray Records with the sides_Please Please/I Need Your Lovin.

 THE INVICTORS(Bee Records).


THE TERMITES(Bee Records).

The Invictors were an interracial group from Reading,Pennsylvania formed by black members Raymond Edwards and Barry Boswell with white members Bobby Rohrbach and Bill & Gene Yuhas.

In 1961 Raymond Edwards leave The Silhouettes of_Get  A Job. fame and form a new group with Barry Boswell(2º Tenor with the recent disbanded group, The Honey Bees on Bee Records),Bobby Rohrbach and brothers Bill and Gene Yuhas (Bill before singing with The Royal Dukes, see in this blog)

They choosen the name The Invictors and recorded two tunes_I’ll Always Care For You/I Don’t Wanna Go (with Gene Lead on the A Side and Edwards on the B Side, this written by his daughter). with music by Bill’s prior band The Royal Dukes.
These sides were released in late 1961 in the Bee label located at Barbour’s society cleaners on Schuykill avenue in Reading and owened by Grover Barbour and Russ Golding.

Without success Bobby Rohrbach leave the group and this recorded some demos at Pat Farraro’s studio as_Carrie Lou/My Dream Girl/Goodbye To Love.

In 1963 the label released the side_Carrie Lou(Lead by Boswell) with the B Side_Give Me Your Love. by an unknow group under the group name of THE TERMITES.

The group singing now as The Termites by a brief time but without made another recording disbanded during 1963.


THE G NOTES (Gino Sisters)

The G Notes were three sisters, 12 year old Linda, 10 year old Nancy, and 3 year old Coleen. Their father, Sam Gino, built a recording studio for them in his home in Thousand Oaks, California. And Ricky Page wife of record productor George Motola discovered these kids while watching them perform on an amateur show and brought them to George's attention.


In 1958 the girls recorded under the supervion of George and Ricky (who write the songs)_I Would/Ronnie(My Teenage Dream). finally released in the Motola’s labels Tender/Jackpot Records. these sides have a Eddie Cochran on guitar.

Motola form the black vocal group the Shields (with the solo porpuse to recording the song_You Cheated. originally by The Slades) with Frankie Ervin on Lead and send the G Notes and his wife as back up group to 1959 Ervin’s solo sides on Guyden Records_Believe Me/Why Don’t You Go?.

The connection with Guyden Records made in 1959 another G Notes recording in this label_Broken Down Merry-Go-Round/Johnny Johnny Johnny. Also writen by George & Ricky and again with Eddie Cochran(this liked the B Side and recorded this as _Jeanie,Jeanie,Jeanie.)

Followed for one side record on Hart Records owened by Don Pierce as The Gino Sisters_Be My Special Valentine(with Carol Kurman). with the instrumental side_Valentine Rock.(Sides not present in the doo wop guides).


-Gone You’re Gone. By The Gino Sisters appear recently in a CD but their date of release and label is a mistery).

The last recording of the sisters were in late 1959 on the Form label with the sides_If They Only Know/Say You’re Mine.


In 1963 Linda and Nancy recorded as Jeff & The Gino’s on Mercury records(see in this blog) and in 1964 were members of the folk group The Youngfolk(see below picture) who recorded for United Artists.

Collen Gino recorded again in the 80’s for Vistone and JDC Records. Actually the collectors assumer that the three girls have some additional  female back up singer, speciality for their sister of 3 years old.

Actually this Recording is from 1966 and they don't have a doo wop sound.


Thee Midniters (They used the word "Thee" so as not to be confused with others Midniters/Midnighters groups) were the East Los Angeles band equivalent of The Beatles influenced by the soul and rhythm & blues sound,very popular in the mid/late 60’s.
