The Matys Brothers were a rockabilly musical act made up of the four Matys brothers, born and raised in Chester, in the Philadelphia area . The quartet's first record_Muskrat Ramble. released on the Essex Records label, was a big hit in 1954, and by 1956 the group was part of Bill Haley's talent and booking stable and recording for Decca Records.

The_Muskrat Ramble. flipside_You're The Moment Of A Lifetime. from 1954 is an unknow primitive oriented doo wop (or du-duá) side.

Tyler,TX  High Junior College students band formed by Ronnie Goodrich, Larry Mackey, Joe Whitfield, and Mike Post.


 -Sacchrin Sally/Still In Love With You. Lin Records-1959.

After their record was released they graduated and the band disbanded.

Sides without a doo wop sound.

THE 5 "GENTS".

A school group from Hendrick Hudson High School, Montrose, NY. Joe Lomando, J. Bunch, Robert Bunch, Donald Dixon, and David Bensky. Their one record had a very limited circulation - being sold only in the school and in the record stores of the surrounding towns during 1958. The group all graduated from high school and went their separate ways (by Charley L.).

I Never Told You/Rock With Me Marie. Crest Records-1958 (actually the label is Golden Crest).

Rare two acappella sides from 1958 but exist some copy in a good condition?

The back up group in this recording is by THE BLENDS who in 1960 recorded on Talent Records(re-released in 1961 on Skylark) the sides_Tell Me/The Way I Want You. and consisted of Lenny Lee(Lead),Stan and Barry Fisher(Tenors),Larry Coleman(Bass) and Marsha Raskin(High Tenor).

THE TEARDROPS (Josie Records).

The Teardrops on Josie Records were a mystery group, they recorded two singles...

In August, 1954...

-The Stars Are Out Tonight/Oh,Stop,It. ( Some copies pressed as The Tear Drops).


2 Sides on Youtube...



And in December, 1954...

-My Heart/Ooh Baby.

LISTEN...



Their first single was re-released in 1960 by Jerry Blaine’s(owner of Josie) son,Steve, in his label Port Records.

Collectors say they were five white guys (perhaps mixed) with a black R&B sound.

The mystery continue...

In 1959 Josie released three singles by a white group named The Teardrops...

-We Won’t Tell/Al Chiar Di Luna.

-You’re My Hollywood Star/Cry No More.

-Always You/Daddy’s Little Girl.

But the connection with the early  Teardrop’s group is unknow (a different group? or unreleased sides from 1954-55 released in 1959?...).

The 1954 Teardrop’s have the know unreleased sides_A Prayer. And_A Fool.

-Whishing Ring. From 1960 by The Five Satins on Ember Records copied the riffs to_The Stars Are Out Tonight.
