WHITE DOO WOP ...without lead voice

Another curiosity that one finds when collecting doo wop music are recordings in which the voice of the leading singer does not appear, in those songs you can only hear the music and the doowops, perhaps the best known are those of the Bluetones in Blue Jay records and that of The Melodeers in Shelley records.

For those who are not familiar with these recordings, I give you another example of them made in 1961 on the Laurie records label with the classic Marcels song "Blue Moon" by the Jochen Brauer Sextett.

One of my latest uploads to my YouTube channel has been quite a surprise for European fans of doo wop music because practically all of them were unaware of this song. It is the song "Don't Wanna Do it" performed in 1981 by a group of Dutch teenagers who call themselves The Shorts.

For those who did not know this song, here you can listen to it ...

Right now the Lp The Spark Plugs "Crazy Beat" from Sutton Records is available on ebay.

This Spark Plug album contains some fantastic rock and doo wop tunes under fake names, for example "Tear of Love" is actually "Sugar Doll" by The Pyramids or "Long lonely hours" by the Echomen on Spider records here as "My Sheila".

It's still a rare LP with a good white group sound.

FLEXI DOO WOP DISC

FLEXI DISC.

The flexi disc (also known as a phonosheet, Sonosheet or Soundsheet, a trademark) is a phonograph record made of a thin, flexible vinyl sheet with a molded-in spiral stylus groove, and is designed to be playable on a normal phonograph turntable. Flexible records were commercially introduced as the Eva-tone Soundsheet in 1962, and were very popular among children and teenagers .

Undoubtedly the best example within the doo wop of this category of records is the Belmonts flexi picture disc made in Japan.

If you did not know it, below I present this beautiful work, a difficult piece to find and very expensive.
