No group name, no recordings, no fame ... unknown group or rather almost unknown group ...

As read in the text of this photo ... George singing with his friends in the garden of his house the songs of his favorite doo-wop groups (february, 1962).

I suppose that if in the late 50's and early 60's you were a teenager in the US, this scene should be very common, although it is rarely photographed.

MYSTERY RECORDING ... The Embers ... Julian Barnett ... The Talens

According to the biography of Mickey Newbury member of the group The Embers they recorded two 45 rpm for Mercury records, these two recordings appear in the doo wop music guides, also in this biography it is stated that The Embers recorded in the late 50's a 45 rpm for the record label Herald records, a recording that is not detailed anywhere.

Asking several collectors these have given me a possible answer to this mystery ...

Julian Barnett was an occasional member of the group The Embers, this singer has a recording on the Herald label in 1958 as ...

JULIAN BARNETT & THE TALENTS.

-Come Back To Me / Don't Walk Away.

Possibly The Talens are The Embers and this is the lost recording of Mickey Newbury's group.

If anyone has more information about it please post it.

They are present in the Complete Book of Doo Wop with...

Very impressive harmonies, Unafortunely in 1965 the teenagers no longer appreciated this type of vocal harmonies.

Rare to see in such good condition and in such a large format the original photo of The Marcels taken in the early 60's.

Notice the name of the group included in the photo with gold letters, which means that this photo is original since in later reproductions (or on the cover of LP's and CD's) these letters were almost always removed.

JEFF KREITER book

I have recently received several requests from readers of this blog regarding Jeff Kreiter's "Vocal Group Record Guide 8th edition" that I use on this blog.

They ask me for a photo of this book to be able to locate it, I have promised that I would send them by email the front and back cover of this book and I am taking the opportunity to upload them to this blog in case there is any other reader interested in this book.

Sometimes I have seen it for sale (by auction) on ebay and also say that the 9th edition is available that I have been unable to find.
