JOHNNY ALADDIN aka THE PAGEANTS

At the beginning of 1959 a fifteen year old friend of the group The Mystics called Johnny Amplo asked them if they could meet him with his manager Jim Gribble so that he could hear him sing.

Jim, liked Johnny's voice and became his manager and arranged a recording for him in 1960 with the songs "Happy Together / Why Did You Go" that would be made for Chip records that same year under the name Johnny Aladdin.

In many places it appears as Johnny's back up group to The Passions, that is incorrect, Johnny in that recording was backed by an unknown group of girls.

This same year of 1960 those same songs were made by Goldisc records under the name THE PAGEANTS.

In the late 60's Johnny became an actor known as John Roper and appeared in movies and television series. Bottom photo, Johnny on the left in the movie TOPAZ.

Johnny's brother, Andy Amplo recorded with The Visions on Elgey records.
