In 1991 three veteran singers of the doo wop music Joel Katz, Johnny Maestro and Bobby Jay decided to meet to record a music CD (because in those days the CD format was prevailing on vinyl) and thus Joel & The Dymensions were born.

They recorded a CD (with the help of other singers in determined songs) that was released on the California Classic Artists label, who chose two songs to release them on vinyl "A Thousand Miles Away / My Juanita". this vinyl recording is present in the doowop music guides.

With Different Singers, Joel Katz continued recording several years as Joel & The Dymensions.
